Choosing it doesn’t depend only on whether the material “feels sticky.” It depends on your discipline, the floor, intensity, sweat, and frequency of use.

What Non-Slip Materials Should Offer

True grip works in two directions. First, the material must stay firmly on the floor so it doesn’t shift during jumps, weight changes, or pedaling. Second, it must provide traction on the top surface so hands, feet, knees, or equipment do not slide when intensity increases.

Mistakes That Make a Surface Slip

Sometimes the problem isn’t the product but how it’s used. Placing a mat on a floor with dust, moisture, or cleaning residues can immediately reduce grip. The same occurs if you store a mat rolled and damp, or if you use it on an overly soft carpet that moves underneath.

Wear should also be checked. When edges start to curl, the texture smooths out, or the base loses adhesion, the surface no longer provides the safety you need.
